HEIDEGGER'S ANOTHER BEGINNING
Heidegger's second masterpiece deals with the great potentials of another beginning in philosophy. The 'another beginning' is an area I've looked at in some interrupted ventures in continuing "My Amateur Heideggerian Adventure." This challenge, and my appreciation for Heidegger's Elucidations of Holderlin's Poetry, keeps me going in these times that show the ascension of anger and stupidity as dominating human society. At first I speculated that Another Beginning had happened in America because of the un-likelihood of 2016 political events . But that was shown to be a chimera that exacerbated the subversion resurgence. So the 'Event' is still on the horizon and it is not numerically political anyway. A new sense of Being must come to the fore.
STOP THE PRESSES ! Why is this content on Heidegger entering the runester's newsletter?
A word of explanation: At any time I have 15 writing projects in the works. I often ask (Divine), “which one should I work on next?”
My recent divination used my 91 card four Futhark set. The value card was strong for resuming “My Amateur Heideggerian Adventure.” The value card was also first in the preferred sequence. The value card in this case is GIBOR of the Armanen Futhorkh. This 18th Charm of the Havamal is significant. So I’ll do it. I’ll resume “My Amateur Heideggerian Adventure.”
My amateur response here to the "The Philosophy of Another Beginning" as expounded by Martin Heidegger in "Contributions to Philosophy: The Event (von Ereignis).
Part One : https://myalternativetostandardizedmedia.blogspot.com/2020/11/respecting-illiberal-awakening-of.html
A full understanding of the original beginning in the pre-Socratics and the evolution from Plato through Nietzsche is necessary to propose a new trajectory heretofore unthought of within the accepted philosophy discipline; The premise is that something was overlooked in the original beginning and the curriculum that followed.
Among the chapters of Heidegger's questioning of the new beginning for philosophy proposed in "Contributions to Philosophy : The Event (von Ereignis)" are :
3.LEAP: the posing of the question of be-ing is the leap. The leap does not know what it is leaping into or towards, but in leaping opens up the space for more originary thinking. Since da-sein is projecting-opening, the leap opens a site in which the essential swaying of be-ing may be grounded in thinking-saying. The leap may simply be an originary phenomenological reduction: the leap into a genuine shift in thinking, and a new beginning in the history of philosophy.
4.Grounding
5. The Ones to Come
6.The Last God
Fascinating potential for one to follow the open questioning which defines the very nature of philosophy. What is the Leap? How is it grounded. (and we know that grounding of theoretical thought is necessary) Who are The Ones to come? And what is the Last God? The Last God, like all of Dasein, has withdrawn from our world. Future interaction is dependent upon our vigilant waiting for the manifestation.
I propose to mention that the original beginning of the curriculum of philosophy was never allowed to continue with the interest of the Northern people because of the interruption of Christianity into the thought of Germanic peoples. Granted the seasonal celebrations and Mannerbund culture were continued and influenced Christianity. But the Mythic structure of Northern Thought was short-circuited and never allowed recognition in theoretical development. All ideas found in Dr. Flowers book given here.
MYTHIC THOUGHT AND THEORETICAL THOUGHT
Theoretical doctrine is put forward by those who deconstruct and analyze meaning in a way that leaves open questions for the practitioners to build upon and assemble in a way that allows further professionalism. Mythic Thought is left as an instruction for those who can perceive the mystery. It has never been organized because it is already complete.
"*Wodhanaz : Our Ancestral God of Sovereign Wisdom'' by Stephen Edred Flowers. 2018. Two pertinent chapters are :
Chapter 5. "Odhinn and the Abortive Attempt at a Northern Philosophy
Chapter 9. "Possibilities for an Odian Philosophy and Praxis"
It's not fair of me to refer to a limited edition not now available (*Wodhanaz was a limited edition Rune-Gild/Woodharrow White Paper) without mentioning an available work like "Would You Know Yet More?" which is listed on the SEEK THE MYSTERY website and described here:

"Philosophy is the will to return to the beginning of history and thus is the will to surpass itself." Heidegger.
The initial publication of "My Amateur Heideggerian Adventure" was in 2012. I use the term 'amateur' to indicate I in no way approach the brilliant expertise of Michael Millerman on the subject. I recently asked Chat GPT AI about the prospect of using Heidegger's work for a practical daily help book and it used my own content to write a text. But my experience with AI is for another time and place. I will say that Cosmic Intelligence will always be superior to Artificial Intelligence. I have spoken.
My premise is that exploring the theoretical praxis of the short-circuited existence of a Northern philosophy, we can elucidate Heidegger's philosophy of another beginning. A heretical notion of mine that challenges the overlooked potential in the First Beginning.
The great gap in philosophical curricular trajectory may very well be the omission or intentional ignoring of the Northern Tradition as a theoretical philosophy that could have developed from the mythic thought.
Continuing the theme of the missing elements of The First Beginning in my propositional answer to Heidegger, let me add another resource that compliments the out-of- print "*Wodhanaz" book by Stephen E. Flowers. This one will work quite nicely and it was a major factor in my "Ancient Ways to New Thought" blog and book.
The Northern Dawn: A History of the Reawakening of the Germanic Spirit: From the Twilight of the Gods to the Sun at Midnight
by Stephen Edred Flowers (Author), Joshua Buckley (Editor), Michael Moynihan (Editior)
Now let's get to work on the overlooked aspect in The First Beginning :
The Mythic storyline of the Poetic Edda, Prose Edda, and many sagas was a living background of perception. To complicate that with Theoretical creativity did not happen because the official church and regime doctrines had taken up that project. Latin, Greek, and Hebrew studies were the educational theme of a Church/Roman model for scholastic preachings. A dogmatic doctrine on the nature of acceptable philosophy was entrenched in scholastic work if accepted by the Church.
Yet the living awareness of God as nature and friend and a dramatic and very human story line still permeated the aura of living human beings. A cosmic doctrine could resonate with ancient perceptions of a challenging yet responsive environment. Meister Eckhart took up this task of teaching using both his latin knowledge and the German language of the people he served. Ideas of a personal resonance with the God Source as a friend and that we are all children and sparks of God were promulgated.
Eckhart even influenced the evolution of the German language with his innovation in combining new words and concepts to present his esoteric teachings. Ancient ideas expressed to a people who resonated (by their very nature) with Eckhart so much that he was beloved and could not be excommunicated until after his death. Yet the ideas lived on.
An anonymous Teutonic Knight wrote a meditative treatise "Theologica Germanica" around 1350. The essay was influential in the later study of Martin Luther. Some precepts are that God is Good. We are sparks of God and have that nature if we are attentive to it. And a warrior ethos of ethics and right action. Shortly after Eckhart 'disappeared' and was excommunicated after death, there appeared this "Theologica Germanica" by an anonymous Teutonic Knight. For a superb study on this see the Glen Alexander Magee article in the ‘Symbel’ journal of The Woodharrow Institute.
Man's relationship to the Divine was accepted as a given by the Norse who had integrated this within their own ambitions and society.
trúa á mátt sinn ok megin
Men who live by their own might and main.
Old Norse concept of men who thrived during harsh times. "Megin" describes the mystic or psychological power that augmented physical strength. This is not only about physical power. It is about the complexity of a functional philosophical reality. Dr. Flowers says that from these men there COULD have developed a true Northern philosophy.
This blog coincides with some current work about Heidegger and roads not taken. When traveled, they did not reach full arrival. ANOTHER BEGINNING could show the road again. I need to update the book since the blog is better.

Now let’s look at chapter 9 in the *Wodhanaz book.
Chapter 9. POSSIBILITIES FOR AN ODIAN PHILOSOPHY AND PRAXIS
"In order for such a philosophy to emerge fully from out of the mythic imagery, that imagery has to be decoded and revalorized in terms of abstract thought'
“The translation of the Odin mythology into a philosophical language is the task of the twenty-first century.”
Dr Flowers uses a difficult to find work by Hans Nauman to present a Nietzschien direction for the eternal return as integrated within our philosophy. Fortunately, I've documented the Afterbornnin aspect of Edred's Master’s Thesis on rebirth to present the importance of being born again within the clannic kindred as being crucial to living well and for a purpose.
Mention is also made again of the men who lived by their own might and main. Study of this in the Eddas and sagas will yield results when constructing a viable living philosophy.
A MYTHIC THEME ARRIVING FOR A PRACTICAL LIVING PHILOSOPHY .
The *WODHANAZ book closes with a statement of the importance of the following myth. Here is my review of this crucial work for regaining the Northern Way :
"SIGURD : REBIRTH AND THE RITES OF TRANSFORMATION" By Stephen E. Flowers.
This is the Master thesis of Stephen E. Flowers. It is not available at the moment as it goes in and out of print with the fortunes of publishing Germanic books. Watch this site for the likely return of availability.

I'm reminded that Academic work and operant runology are published under different premises and different approaches. It remains true, however, that the best operant and practical instructive books are based upon solid scholarly research. I'm not saying that this book offers a plan for action as much as an authentic research background. Then again - - I am saying that this book offers rede on how young people can overcome Modernist limitations and live their authentic purpose.
I will state for the record that reading this book is instructive on the nature of humanity at many levels. My undistinguished university career was punctuated with occasional moments of real learning. These moments were when the subject and material were actually related to real life. Dr. Flowers' book is impeccably researched and has academic credentials. It is also one that brings me those moments of real learning.
An academic masterpiece like this is not necessarily intended to act as a practical guide. I believe, however, that this is an instructive guide to young people ; especially young men. My reasoning is that if I had integrated the lore of the soul found there I would have been more successful than I am now at age 68 (5 years ago.) I would have had a better idea of how to take advantage of my destiny.
Before entering some reviews from the old Lodestar site and Amazon about the soul lore aspects, I will address directly some rede for young people. Look at the accomplishments and character of your ancestors. Ancient ancestors, recent ancestors, and honorable relatives who are still alive. A precedent has been set and you can strengthen your soul by participating in that precedent. We function best as clans and united kindred. The power of your kindred strengthens you and then you strengthen your kindred.
In our historic sources we can find the presence of a noble birth with a destiny and how a young person should take action. Apprenticeship with a relative or mentor who has knowledge and ability is the way. Indeed, the very story of the Volsung Saga and The Nibelungenlied is about the initiation of a youth to an important fated purpose. The means of initiation within a culture structured toward mystic heroism is the scenic background for the tale. There are technical Germanic soul concepts that inform us with cultural literary credence. In my opinion there are also principles that have worked for us in other times and could be working today among those youth who are paying attention.
The Sigurd thesis could be a study of potential within the family not fully realized and as advice to younger men to be conscious of their place and opportunities. It could also reaffirm and renew an older man's influence at a later stage of life.
Magic of your own could be enacted.
Two Primary Sources to study are the Volsungasaga and the Niblelungenlied. There are also relevant lays in the Codex Regius.
Here is a description of the book from the old Lodestar site. Access would now be found at the Seek The Mysteries website.
"This book is in essence the MA thesis of Stephen E. Flowers, written in 1979. The text contains extensive discussions of the history of the scholarship about the idea of rebirth in ancient Norse sources, the doctrine of the soul, and the record of “reincarnation” in Norse as well as other Indo-European sources. The theories are applied to the data of the saga of Sigurdr, where we can see the ideas in action—the rites that must be undergone in order to effect this mysterious process known as “rebirth.” The contents of this book are essential to understanding the ancient concepts of the soul, rebirth and of personal transformation, or initiation."
And from the Amazon site:
"The doctrine of reincarnation and the structure of the ancient Norse soul, or psyche, have been enduring topics of scientific inquiry for well over a century. In this work, based on his 1979 Master's Thesis at the University of Texas at Austin, the author reviews past scholarship, outlines the structure of the Norse soul, and with comparative Indo-European and even American Indian evidence, coupled with copious internal Germanic evidence demonstrates how certain soul-components were believed to be passed from generation to generation in the ancient North. The focus is on the saga of Sigurd Fafnisbani, the greatest hero of Germanic legend, and how his mythic life demonstrates the development of the soul of the ultimate hero through certain rites of transformation. These conclusions have ramifications for understanding the development of any great human soul and can act as a paradigm for that development."
My inclusion of the important "Rebirth and Initiation" thesis of Stephen E. Flowers corresponds to my recent interest in The Hero's Journey in a comprehensive musical and artistic project of a friend. We have seen mythic power enhanced by the power of music in the works of Wagner and Carl Orloff in movies like "Excalibur." We have seen the creation of a mythic Zeitgeist of sound and art in epochs of dynamic culture like those formed during the 1960s that defined the dangerous and transformative adventures of youth in their engagement of heroic quests. There were no guarantees and the promise fell short - - but renewal to quest again is our way.
Now we are ready to return to Heidegger’s "Contributions" as the masterpiece that is somehow more readable than Being and Time. The resonance of living in the immediacy of a calling can make the obscure more clear.
INCEPTUAL THINKING with the guidance of Michael Millerman
Inceptual Thinking
What is inceptual thinking? In Das Ereignis (also referred to as The Event), Heidegger writes that, “Inceptual thinking, in speaking, points to beyng and lets being return to its essence (i.e., its truth) as the clearing.”
(Heidegger changed the spelling of ‘Being” to ‘Beying’ as an indicator of his perspective. )
Commentary on the 'overcoming of metaphysical thinking' as it had been found in the First Beginning indicates that this was only an episode in bringing The Event. My personal bias toward the Northern reclaiming of what should have been might be seen as an episode. To keep open to what is to arrive now might mean that I need to consider another prospect. Not likely, but thought need not be contained to limits. My direction is to provide an alternative which I already believe transcends described limits.

My above speculation about the Northern Tradition being the missing element in the First Beginning means that I have challenged the very premise of Inceptual Thinking. Being open to something completely new is a working premise of Heidegger’s prescription for Another Beginning. Waiting and ‘not yet’ is a factor in our wisest position in Another Beginning.
